Google recently launched a new “Teacher Approved” program where qualifying apps receive a special badge that will display on their Google Play Store listing. The program is only for kid-focussed apps that meet certain requirements for content quality, safety and many other factors.
Every app that receives approval for the new badge is vetted by a panel of expert reviewers, including more than 200 teachers across the U.S. Qualifying apps must meet Google’s existing requirements for the “Designed for Families” program as well as new special requirements that have been created.
For users to find Teacher Approved apps they can either visit the new “Kids” tab on Google Play (currently in the US only, but going global soon) or they can look for the “Teacher Approved” badge on any Google Play kid-focussed app to see if the app has been reviewed and accepted into the program. Also, Google Play Pass will offer subscribers a selection of “Teacher Approved” content under the “Apps and Games for Kids” section.
KIDOZ works with Google as a Certified Ad Network and complies with Play’s Families Ads Program. Google recently requested that KIDOZ provide custom SDK support for “Teacher Approved” apps and a new version of the KIDOZ SDK was developed and released on May 15th (sdk version 0.8.8.7 and higher), which offers native support for apps wishing to receive the “Teacher Approved” badge.
Developers that would like to be eligible for a “Teacher Approved” badge need to follow certain requirements, including not offering playable advertising units or rewarded advertising units to users.
Publishers – Here’s how to set your Kidoz SDK to comply:
- Go to your Applications on the Kidoz Dashboard
- Select an existing app or press the “Add New App” button, and make sure to select “This app is in the “Teacher Approved” Section in Google Play”
- After assigning this custom flag, Kidoz will make sure to send only compliant “Teacher Approved” ads to this application.
