How Much Internet Independence for Kids?

Independence…

How much independence can young children have on the Internet?

This is a very subjective topic, as parents have differing beliefs and preferences when it comes to their child’s Internet usage.

This is also a multi-faceted area, as kid’s web independence is defined not only by security concerns, but also by navigation capabilities.

KIDO’Z has been designed with young kids in mind with the focus being on enabling them to experience the Internet independently within their parents’ preferred parameters.

Kids love exercising their independence in small ways from a very young age – brushing their own teeth, finishing a puzzle on their own, or even changing the channel on the TV.

And now, through KIDO’Z, children love the fact that they can imitate what ‘mommy’ and ‘daddy’ do on the computer and that they can do it all on their own.

Never too Young to Navigate

Through the KIDO’Z User Interface, young kids are equipped with the tools necessary to navigate – they can access pre-approved websites, videos and games on their own ‘at the click of a mouse’ even before they are able to read or write. The UI is completely kid-friendly and easy to use with its large, colorful buttons and intuitive graphical navigation tools.

Each website, game and video is identified by a illustrative thumbnail to help kids select what they want to view. Through the KIDO’Z User Interface, opening pre-approved content, navigating across categories, and adding and visiting their Favorites are all tasks that are now available for children as young as 3 years old.

If you have a nettop or touchscreen, kids can simply touch on images to choose what they would like to see, as KIDO’Z has also been optimized for touchscreen technology.

Protected Independence

As young children obviously cannot be allowed to roam the web freely, KIDO’Z offers independence within the protection of a safe environment that can be customized for each child. Security and account settings are fully adjustable by the parents. Limiting a child’s daily usage, allowing only selected content, blocking exit with a password and so on, are all at the parent’s discretion.

Wishing everyone in the US a Happy Fourth of July from all of us at KIDO’Z.
